December has been an incredibly busy month at St Mary’s with children and teachers doing Christmas art, practising and performing poems, plays and Christmas carols. ‘Journeys’ the book is about the journey our ‘Per Cent for Art’ stone made from the quarry, where a 7 tonne block of Kilkenny limestone was removed from the quarry bed, and was taken to McKeon Stoneyard in Stradbally, Co. Róisín O’ Meara from Tipp and myself, Alex Cass, were bringing out the Liam McCarthy cup. First we went into the Tipp dressing room, then the KIlkenny one and of course they weren’t there. Diarmuid Galway and Eddie Donnelly were awarded ‘Sportsmen of the Year’ for leadership behaviour and good hurling. They reached the Roinn A quarter final to lose to CBS, who they had beaten earlier in the league. Well done to both boys on receiving these outstanding awards.
