Anna Cass-cades Down the Liffey to Victory, May 2016

(Written by Anna Cass) The Junior Liffey Decent is a huge race for kayakers. We started the race at the Salmon Leap Canoe Club in Co. Kildare. We kayaked 11.5 Km, over 4 weirs and 1 portage to finish over an hour later at Chapelizod in Dublin. I was the first home in the Under 15’s girls’ category.


4th Class Fashion Show Through the Ages, April 2016

Ms O’ Connor’s 4th class put on a fantastic fashion show exhibiting fashion down through the ages. The children wore clothing from the Roman era, the medieval period,  the 1920’s, the 1950’s, the hippy 60’s and the colourful 80’s. Check out the photos below. St Mary’s Proclamation Day, March 15th 2016

As part of the Ireland 2016 commemorative programme, the Department of Education and Skills provided time for schools to commemorate and reflect upon the events of 100 years ago.   Some of our events on Proclamation Day included song singing and musical instrumentals. Christmas Carol Service, December 2015

(Written by Sarah Aylward and Matthew Cullen) Last Thursday, 17th of December, we had a carol service in our school. There were lots of poems, songs and instrumentals performed by various classes. Irish Army Delivers Tricolour to St Mary’s, Dec 2015

In order to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Rising and to celebrate 100 years since the Proclamation of the Irish Republic, Óglaigh na hÉireann delivered a National Flag to our school today, December 14th, 2015. Ho! Ho! Ho!

The atmosphere was electric in St Mary’s on Tuesday when Santa arrived on his sleigh being pulled by the one and only Rudolph! We were very lucky that he took time out of his busy preparations to pay our school a visit. He chatted to all the children in the school and gave each child a chocolate treat. Audrey 2, from Little Shop of Horrors, Visits St Mary’s!

The Kilkenny Musical Society presents their 2015 fundraiser, Little Shop Of Horrors from 12th -14th of November (including a matinee performance.)
